General Policy

To prevent the spread of Covid-19, the physical spaces and resources of UPSE Library must be used only for essential purposes.  Online services are developed to serve the information needs of the clients remotely while in-demand book titles are now accessible in electronic format.

Library Hours

 The Library operation shall depend on the risk-classification set for National Capital Region and instructions from the UP top management.  Library hours shall be periodically updated and announced via social media accounts and the website.

Services Involving Physical Presence and Interaction

Be mindful of Covid-19 symptoms. Stay at home: 1) when sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19; 2) has been in close contact with someone who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 days; 3) has been waiting for their swab test results; 4) has been in close contact with or has been placed on quarantine for possible contact with COVID-19 within the last 14 days.

Entering the Library Building

Step 1: Wear your mask and face shield at all times.

Step 2: Present your UP ID to the guard before entering the building.

Step 3: Fill out the contact tracing form truthfully and legibly.

Step 4: Sanitize your hands with the disinfectant provided near the entrance door or with any personal disinfectant before entering the library.

Step 5: Always maintain at least one (1) meter distance when interacting with the Library staff and other users.

Use of Library Spaces

Step 1: Please take note of the following guidelines:

  • The use of library spaces shall  be strictly for currently enrolled graduate and undergraduate students, faculty members and staff of University of the Philippines-Diliman.
  • A maximum of 50 users shall be allowed to enter the library and/or use reading areas at one time. This is in accordance with the standards set by the IATF: “Maximum of 50% operational capacity.”
  • Discussion rooms shall remain closed.
  • Use of library spaces is for 1) Research; 2) Borrow/Pick up books; 3) Access to CEIC Databases and Eikon with Datastream.

Step 2: Fill out this form and wait for the Library’s confirmatory reply. Walk-ins shall not be allowed to enter library premises. 

Borrowing of Books

Step 1: Use Tuklas to confirm the book’s availability. 

Step 2: Fill out this form and wait for the Library’s confirmatory email. Make sure to carefully read the guidelines included in the form.

Step 3: Observe the following protocols when using borrowed books from the Library:

  • Sanitize the book’s back and front covers with alcohol wipes;
  • Read with mask on;
  • Do not moisten fingers before turning the pages of the book;
  • Avoid eating while reading the book;
  • Practice sneezing/coughing etiquette while using the book.

Important: Users may opt to personally borrow and pick up the needed book. This is allowed but highly discouraged since contactless service is the preferred mode of service delivery of the library. Email the library at library@econ.upd.edu.ph if you intend to borrow books in person. 

Returning of Books

Step 1: Sanitize the book’s back and front covers with alcohol wipes.

Step 2: You may return the books in person or via courier. For personal visit, kindly return the books on the designated Book Drop. For courier/delivery method, the address and contact details of the library are as follows:

Step 3: If  via courier, inform the librarians via email if the book/s have been returned by emailing the scanned copy of the transaction slip/official receipt.
